We built the guide we wished we had.
We were curious, open-minded and ready to see what was out there. We assumed the difficult part would be deciding what we felt comfortable trying.
It wasn’t.
The difficult part was finding clear, useful information about where to go, what to do and what to expect.
We spent more time searching than exploring. Information was scattered across venue websites, event pages, social media accounts, private groups and online platforms. Some places assumed we already understood the terminology. Others gave us plenty of atmosphere but very few practical details.
We found ourselves opening endless tabs, comparing incomplete information and trying to answer basic questions.
What actually happens there? Who is it for? What should we wear? Do we need to arrive as a couple? Are newcomers welcome? What are the rules? How private is it? Is this still running? Is it even the kind of experience we are looking for?
By the time we found an option that felt right, the experience itself was often much simpler than the research required to get there.
That was the idea behind The Curious List.
We created The Curious List to make exploring easier for other adults who are asking the same questions.
It brings places, events, online communities and practical information together in one place, so you can spend less time searching and more time understanding your options.
You do not need to know exactly what you are looking for before you begin. You do not need to adopt a label, join a community or commit to an experience simply because you are curious about it.
You can browse. You can learn. You can talk about what you find with your partner. You can decide to take the next step, wait until another time or rule something out completely.
All of those are useful outcomes.
Curiosity is not a commitment. It is simply a reason to look more closely.
Exploring something new together can be exciting, but it can also bring up practical questions, personal boundaries and different levels of comfort.
We believe better information makes those conversations easier.
The Curious List is designed to help you move beyond vague descriptions and understand what an option may actually involve. Wherever possible, we aim to make it easier to find the details that matter: the type of experience, who it is intended for, how it works, what may be expected of you and where to go for further information.
Our role is not to persuade you to do more.
It is to help you understand more, so you can make a decision that feels right for you.
Many adult spaces and communities have their own language, customs and assumptions. That can make it difficult for newcomers to know where they fit—or whether they fit at all.
The Curious List is for people who are interested but may not yet know the terminology. It is for couples beginning a conversation, individuals looking for reliable starting points and experienced explorers trying to discover something new.
We aim to explain things clearly, respectfully and without unnecessary judgement.
You are allowed to be curious without having all the answers.
You are also allowed to change your mind.
The Curious List is an independent discovery directory for adults aged 18 and over.
We collect and organise information about places, events, platforms, communities and experiences to help you see what is available and decide what may be relevant to you.
We are not the organiser or operator of the experiences listed on the site. A listing is a starting point, not a guarantee, certification or personal recommendation. Details such as dates, prices, entry requirements, rules and availability can change, so they should always be confirmed directly with the relevant provider before making plans.
We take clarity seriously and aim to correct material inaccuracies when they are brought to our attention.
We also believe trust is built by being honest about what a directory can—and cannot—do.
The Curious List grew from our own experience of trying to answer a simple question:
Where do we begin?
We hope it gives you a clearer answer than we had.
Whether you are ready to make plans, beginning a private conversation or simply trying to understand what is out there, you can take it at your own pace.
You do not need to decide everything today.
You only need a sensible place to start.
Explore The Curious List and see what is out there.
Looking does not mean committing. We believe adults should be able to explore possibilities at their own pace, without labels, assumptions or pressure to take the next step.
Finding out what is available should not require hours of searching or insider knowledge. We aim to make information clear, practical and easier to understand.
Our role is not to persuade you. We support informed conversations and personal decisions—including choosing to continue, wait, change direction or decide something is not for you.
We are clear about what we know, what may change and what should be confirmed directly with a provider. A listing is a useful starting point, not a guarantee or certification.
