Pilot policy assessment
The Curious List: pilot decision and Google policy assessment
Assessment date: 24 October 2026. This is an editorial assessment, not a Google decision or a promise of approval or revenue.
Recommendation
Do not proceed to a public AdSense test under the present mainstream-Google-advertising business model. This remains the editorial recommendation. The owner subsequently authorised a public AdSense test; the public pilot uses the same nine listings. Seven of nine listings are likely restricted and two are uncertain. None is established as unrestricted. The limitation is principally the directory’s actual subject and destinations, not the number of listings or the presentation quality.
The Google Publisher Restrictions state that Google Ads advertisements do not serve on inventory labelled with a restriction. Other eligible demand may be reduced or absent. “Restricted” does not mean “prohibited”, but it is a poor basis for a business that specifically requires mainstream Google advertiser demand. [R1, O1]
The owner has now authorised public access and an AdSense test. It would test Google’s actual assessment of the same candid niche, not validate an earnings assumption. Do not replace the pilot with harmless hospitality listings for review and add the actual niche afterwards. The application is not submitted: account access, publisher verification and the submission domain remain unresolved. No ad code, live advertising, earnings estimate or ad-click request is included.
Policy references
All references below are official Google sources reviewed on 24 October 2026.
- R1 — Google Publisher Restrictions, Sexual content. Covers nudity; sexual entertainment; fetish discussion; sexual merchandise; facilitating sexual encounters; and sexual performance advice. Its introduction explains the effect on advertiser demand. https://support.google.com/publisherpolicies/answer/10437795?hl=en
- R2 — Sexual content explainer. Supporting official interpretation. Google illustrates educational material that can be unrestricted. This is relevant contrary evidence: not every factual discussion of sexuality is restricted. A directory that routes visitors to participatory venues or fetish courses is not assumed to qualify for that example. https://support.google.com/publisherpolicies/answer/10400657
- P1 — Google Publisher Policies, Sexually explicit content and Compensated sexual acts. Prohibits graphic sexual material, non-consensual sexual themes and promotion of sexual acts for compensation. https://support.google.com/publisherpolicies/answer/10502938?hl=en
- P2 — Same policy collection, Misleading representation; Dishonest declarations; Inventory value; Ads interfering; Privacy disclosures; Personalised advertising. Requires truthful representation, substantive original content, appropriate placement and disclosures. It also limits sensitive audience use. Same official URL as P1.
- S1 — Make sure your site’s pages are ready for AdSense. Original value, usable navigation and a useful visitor experience. It does not set an 8–12 listing minimum. https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7299563?hl=en&ref_topic=1319756
- S2 — Eligibility requirements. Content quality, programme compliance, source-code access and adult account holder. https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/9724?hl=en
- S3 — Your AdSense account wasn’t approved. Google may review all site pages. A private pilot is not an application-ready public site. https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/81904?hl=en
- O1 — Overview of Google Publisher Policies and Restrictions. Distinguishes prohibited content from restricted advertiser access. https://support.google.com/publisherpolicies/answer/10400453?hl=en
The assessments below are inferences from these policies and the official business sources recorded in source-register.csv. They are conservative screening decisions, not claims of unlawful activity by any venue.
Assessment method and limits
Review the actual offering, directory title, summary, practical fields, button destination and accessible official text together. Descriptions are original and candid. All nine pages have one factual “Official website” button plus named source links. There are no affiliate redirects, embedded official pages, booking forms, venue photographs or fabricated endorsements.
Official websites were checked using retrieved current pages. No venue was visited, contacted or independently certified. A live webpage does not prove that a business is trading on a particular day. Destination imagery, authenticated sections, all third-party ticketing destinations and future changes have not been comprehensively visually audited. This limitation is material, especially for naturist sites and adult venue galleries. It prevents an unrestricted determination; tasteful directory copy alone cannot settle it.
Google’s glossary (https://support.google.com/publisherpolicies/table/10563033) includes content that is present, linked or made available by a publisher. Linked destinations are therefore part of the risk assessment. No destination’s explicit text or imagery is reproduced here. Read the final destination again immediately before any approved public/ad test. Search indexing, absence of warnings and automated link success do not establish advertising eligibility.
Listing assessments
| Listing | Result | Specific reasoning and destination review | Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Encounterz | Likely restricted | Title identifies the venue; copy openly calls it a swingers venue. The official website button leads to booking information and the etiquette source describes adult activity rules. This facilitates sexual encounters. No graphic directory imagery or paid-participant service is presented. Review linked material for P1 before monetisation. | R1; residual P1 risk |
| Mike’s Place | Likely restricted | Copy and official FAQ identify swinging and admission categories. The linked rules reject solicitation. Venue admission is not assumed to be compensation to another participant for a sexual act. The encounter-facilitation restriction remains. | R1; P1 distinction |
| Taboo22 | Likely restricted | Copy and destination identify swingers and BDSM formats, rather than concealing them as a social bar. The official button has no promotional sexual wording. Encounter facilitation and fetish content are both relevant. | R1 |
| Our Secret Spot | Likely restricted | Text identifies adult play parties. The linked FAQ contains adult area descriptions and sexual merchandise links. Restriction is likely; graphic material elsewhere could raise a separate prohibited-content issue. No such material is embedded. | R1; residual P1 risk |
| Club Gemini | Likely restricted | Invitation and membership conditions lead to a swingers venue with fetish formats. The name, description and source links are factual. Screening does not remove encounter facilitation. Wider linked descriptions require explicit-content review. | R1; residual P1 risk |
| Aquarius Naturist Retreat | Uncertain | Clearly identified as non-sexual naturism, with family admission disclosed to avoid falsely calling it adults-only. Text has no nudity images or encounter offer. Communal nudity and destination images create restriction uncertainty. Non-sexual purpose is not treated as a blanket exemption. | R1 nudity |
| Twin Falls Naturist Retreat | Uncertain | Mandatory nudity is disclosed, alongside the operator’s rejection of swinging. No photos appear on our page. Destination images and the nude-retreat purpose prevent an unrestricted finding. Conflicting practical pages are disclosed. | R1 nudity |
| Studio Kink | Likely restricted | Explicitly identified as kink and rope-bondage education. No technique instructions or graphic descriptions are reproduced. The educational format is not assumed to exempt fetish discussion. The official course destination confirms the offering. | R1 fetish discussion |
| Honeycomb Club | Likely restricted | Named and described as burlesque cabaret including striptease, not generic dining. The linked FAQ confirms the performance format. Artistic presentation is a boundary case, but restriction is the prudent working classification for this listing. | R1 sexual entertainment/suggestive content |
Category and aggregate-page assessments
| Category/page | Result | Reason | Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lifestyle clubs | Likely restricted | All five included businesses facilitate sexual encounters. Category titles, summaries and links make that purpose clear. | R1 |
| Naturist retreats | Uncertain | Both providers are non-sexual. Nude imagery on destinations or the final page context could still trigger the nudity restriction. No claim of automatic exemption. | R1 |
| Kink education | Likely restricted | Provider information discusses a fetish subject even without explicit instructions or images. | R1 |
| Burlesque cabaret | Likely restricted | This pilot’s actual provider confirms striptease. This is not a statement that all theatre or cabaret is restricted. | R1 |
| Homepage, full directory and filtered results | Likely restricted | These screens contain lifestyle-club and kink summaries and links. A broad heading cannot make the underlying inventory unrestricted. | R1 |
| About, editorial standards and current pilot privacy page | Likely unrestricted in isolation | Administrative text has no graphic or promotional adult offering. Site-level review and association with the full directory remain relevant; these pages are not proposed as an ad-only workaround. | P2; S3 |
| Review/download pages | Uncertain; do not monetise | They contain adult-category assessment and source destinations and serve an evaluation function. | R1; P2 inventory value |
Exclusion decisions and prohibited boundary
| Candidate or content type | Decision | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Chateau Vino | Exclude from active directory | Its current homepage says it is closed while seeking a new venue. Legacy rules remain online. This is an operating-status exclusion, not advertising sanitisation. Official source: https://www.chateauvino.com.au/ |
| The Barn Brisbane | Exclude from this pilot | Its official FAQ combines private kink hire with adult-content production hire. The production scope requires additional explicit-content review. This is uncertain/high risk, not a definitive finding that private hire is prohibited. The intended kink range is still represented by Studio Kink. Official source: https://thebarnbrisbane.com.au/fag/ |
| Paid sexual services, escort services, intimate massage and compensated sexual arrangements | Prohibited for Google monetisation; excluded | P1’s compensated-sexual-acts policy applies. Ordinary venue admission fees are not automatically the same as paying a participant for a sexual act. |
| Graphic sexual media/text and non-consensual sexual themes | Prohibited; excluded | P1. Do not reproduce, embed or promote prohibited material. |
| Content that sexualises or exploits minors | Prohibited; excluded | Google’s child sexual abuse and exploitation policy. Ordinary non-sexual naturism is not labelled exploitation merely because a provider allows families. No child imagery appears in this pilot. |
No included listing has been classified “prohibited” from the material checked. That is not certification of the full destination domain. Any future prohibited finding must stop monetisation and prompt removal or correction of the affected content, not euphemistic rewriting.
Presentation and readiness review
Names and page titles are factual. Summaries identify each offering. No explicit images, copied business descriptions, performance claims, testimonials, prices or opening hours are used. Buttons say “Official website” and disclose that the reader leaves the directory. No button says “play now” or implies a guaranteed outcome.
Static HTML pages contain substantive practical fields, sources, dates and clearly marked unknowns. Filters, category pages, listing pages, About, editorial standards, privacy information and a sitemap are provided. No events, guides, reviews, accounts or messaging are implemented. A source-page check is not described as inspection or accreditation.
The only advertising areas are non-clickable boxes labelled “Advertising placeholder · No ads are served in this pilot”. They do not overlap content. Ad code must remain absent until separately approved. There is no automatic ad insertion on restricted or uncertain pages. Metadata and internal assessments are the same for every viewer; there is no crawler-specific content.
Work required before any approved public test
- Confirm the responsible legal operator and a real contact/corrections/privacy channel. None has been invented.
- Establish hosting/access-log processing, retention and provider locations; replace the pilot privacy notice with a notice for the verified public configuration. No claim of anonymous or unlogged access is made.
- Review every destination visually, including galleries and booking paths, and record any prohibited-content finding. Resolve outstanding practical conditions with operators where needed.
- Re-read Google’s current policies. Set explicit per-page ad eligibility and disable automatic placement on restricted/uncertain inventory. Assess mixed directory pages too. Do not use these technical controls as a claim of site approval.
- If ad technology is approved later, document its actual data use and required consent, including applicable overseas visitor rules. Do not build sensitive-interest remarketing lists from this directory.
- Public access and an AdSense test were authorised on 24 October 2026. Public access alone is not an AdSense submission or approval. The retained search noindex directive is distinct from crawler access; robots.txt permits fetching. No live demand can be measured without an approved ad implementation.
Recurring work and maintenance estimate
These are planning estimates for nine listings, not measured operating results:
| Work | Suggested frequency | Pilot effort allowance |
|---|---|---|
| External link and destination-change check | Monthly and after a reported issue | 15–30 minutes; automated checks can flag failures but cannot decide meaning |
| Re-read each official listing source and booking conditions | Quarterly; sooner for closures or changes | 1.5–3 hours per review cycle |
| Editorial and policy review | Quarterly and on Google policy notices | 30–60 minutes, with additional time for material changes |
| Static-site maintenance, access review and restore check | Quarterly or after hosting changes | 30–60 minutes |
| Corrections and closure reports | As received | Variable; a named responsible person is still necessary |
The site has no daily publishing requirement, runtime AI or database. That reduces technical work. It does not remove verification, policy or correction work. The concept should not be described as passive. If the directory grows, verification effort grows with it. No recurring task or subscription has been created.
Public-test preparation update
The owner authorised public access and an AdSense test on 24 October 2026. All nine listings remain present. The public pilot has no sign-in requirement; search noindex is retained while the test is prepared.
Account submission is incomplete. The connected browser was unavailable, so the AdSense account was not accessed. A real publisher ID is needed for verification; no example ID has been installed. Google offers meta-tag verification without a serving script: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7584263?hl=en
The selected custom domain is https://curiouslist.au. The original platform subdomain raised a domain-eligibility question during the pilot assessment. Google permits domains and specified platform subdomains: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/12170421?hl=en . No AdSense submission or approval is claimed here.
A real public operator name, contact method and confirmed hosting privacy details are still needed before the application package is complete.
